Over the last few months, people have been asking me how do I make money from my blog. I hadn’t thought about it previously because I’m not blogging to make an extreme amount of cash, but cash in my pocket is always fun, and I’m happy to receive it.
There are a million and one bloggers that are making thousands of dollars a month, that’s not me. I don’t publish income reports. I’m not out here to make money. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not making some cash on the side. Many bloggers have been able to pay off debt, stop living from pay cheque to pay cheque and put a little money into a savings account all from doing what they love — blogging.
I’m going to show you how to get started and start rolling in that extra cash. It won’t be easy; you will have to work and work hard.
Are you ready? Here are a couple of helpful tips to get you started:
Create a Blog
I created my blog with WordPress because I found it user-friendly and easy to set-up on my own. I’ve created a simple and easy to follow guideline to help you start a blog in less than 15 minutes and for as little as $5.95 per month.
Start Creating Content
Firstly, write about things that you are passionate about. I started writing about random thoughts and ideas just sprouted from there. No one wants to visit a blog that has empty pages.
Share Your Words
I can’t say this enough, share your blog link with everyone. I shared mine with my family and friends, then they shared it and so on and so on. Word of mouth is the best compliment one could ever receive.
Host a GiveAway
Giveaways are one of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog. You can use websites like Rafflecopter to help keep you organized. Your giveaway prize doesn’t have to be worth hundreds of dollars, find a product that you believe in, write a review and give the product away. If you are creative or have family or friends that sell on Etsy, you could use those as prizes in a giveaway as well.
Pitch Companies for Product Reviews
It was incredibly difficult and a giant step for me to take; I have a fear of rejection. I wish I were brave enough just to get those emails rolling right from the start. Keep in mind that the worse thing that can happen is that these companies will say no. Your time is valuable, so make it worth your time. Make a list of products that you love and often use, start with those companies and then branch out to other products that interest you. Keep your e-mail short and sweet.
Tip: I will provide a full review and often will later ask the company if they are interested in a Giveaway Option.
Affiliate marketing allows you to earn extra income by promoting products or services that you love. You link products to your content and if a reader makes a purchase the company pays you a small commission. If there is a product you like, chances are there is an Affiliate Program for it. I recommend Share-A-Sale . I’ve been using Share-A-Sale for over a year. What’s great about this company is that they have a variety of companies that will pay you just for joining their Affiliate Program.
Bonus: Surveys are a great way to earn a little extra side cash in your spare time.
